Algiers Louisiana is located across from the New Orleans French Quarter and the Riverwalk. there is a ferry that travels across the Mississippi River every half hour bringing walk on and cars from one side to the other. this is an interesting crossing area where you can see the City of New Orleans as you cross the river. The Historic Downtown Algiers is a small area of restored homes and businesses from the 1800's. If you like the charm of the old New Orleans French architect you will see it at Algiers Point and then again when you cross the river to the French Quarter. You can also take the Greater New Orleans Bridge across the river to several different points of interest on both sides of the interstate as you enter the City of New Orleans. The Superdome is not far from the bridge with its own exit.

Algiers has a public 18 holes golf course that has been completely redone since the hurricane Katrina in 2005. There is also a military base with a PX on it. There is a large area of new construction where government buildings are being built not far from the bridge.
